Welcome Letter 2019

Posted over 6 years ago by Julie Mcleod

February 1, 2019

Hello to you!

The first day of February has brought some snow to Richmond, and it also brings us closer to the Central Virginia Emergency Nurses’ Association’s first meeting of 2019. Officers this year are: Jane Pugh (President), Donna Talbot (President-Elect), Alexus Moore (Treasurer), and Julie McLeod (Secretary, and this letter writer). I would like to take a moment to invite you to make yourself familiar with all of the opportunities that CVENA membership offers.

We are looking to increase participation at our meetings this year. Our bimonthly meetings are hosted at rotating hospital campuses or at local restaurants. Attendance at meetings in person allows you to open dialogue with fellow professionals, to take advantage of learning opportunities, and to apply for annual scholarship money. Our first Chapter Meeting of 2019 will be on February 12th from 1800-2000 in the Ortho Building at Memorial Regional Medical Center. CVENA President Jane Pugh has set up a special lesson in self-care, presented by Johanna Reyes, which will start at 1730. Johanna Reyes will be teaching relaxation tips through chair yoga immediately before the CVENA Chapter Meeting begins at 1800.

We communicate with our members electronically mostly through our website where I have published this letter.  Our website is https://cvena.nursingnetwork.com/ If you have never used the website, create a free account with the Nursing Network to look at the content, like announcements, educational offerings, helpful links, and meeting minutes. We also have an active Facebook page. Follow us on Facebook for events, videos, and photos.

Please reach out to me or any officer if you have questions. We look forward to another fulfilling year of the Central Virginia Emergency Nurses’ Association.

Warmly,

Julie McLeod, BSN, RN, CEN
