Overview
Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for an Oncology RN to support our office in Norfolk.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to direct contact with patients with potential for exposure to toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and chemotherapeutic agents.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

- Administers chemotherapy, hydration, and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician
- Assesses and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician
- Assesses patients for changes in condition, including but not limited to abnormal labs, x-rays, scans and drug reactions. Initiates appropriate action.
- Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central venous access devices and alternate delivering systems
- Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow
- Phone triage as assigned
- Documents all elements of care
- Serves as a resource to the Medical Assistants
- Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician or advanced practice provider
- Assesses patient and family needs
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education required; BSN preferred
- Oncology experience strongly preferred
- Current RN state license required
- Current BCLS certification required
- OCN certification preferred
- Must be willing to travel between offices as needed
